Foundational Values

Empower, Educate, & Elevate.

Our Mission

Alta Vista is inclusive to youth and families from all backgrounds and lifestyles, and is guided by Christian values of hope, truth, compassion, service, and love.

The mission is to provide excellence in education with emphasis on choice, and encourage individual and family empowerment and development, which will promote the student to meet and exceed goals.

Our Vision

Empower

We use individual and small group adaptive education and life skills, utilizing and enhancing the unique strengths of students and clients.

Educate

We incorporate counseling, life skills, and social skills training with an emphasis on the power of choice.

Nurture

We encourage and foster the discovery of self and the world, by exploring global and multi-cultural perspectives, and world view.

Our Core Values

Hope

Not a guarantee of immunity from harm but a conviction that God is always present. We live this out in work as we embrace hope in our own lives, we can help instill hope in the lives of others.

Truth & Grace

Aim for honesty in all things big and small. As we learn from Jesus’ parable of the sower and the seed, trust in the law of sowing and reaping. In our work lives, we need to sow truth and grace bountifully. Be generous with your seeds. Plant daily. Be constantly trying new things. Don’t be afraid to start small. Practice patience.

Compassion

The Golden Rule of treating others the way you want to be treated, works if you work it. Make people the first things, not property, money, or tangible items. Think of others first. Treat others like you want to be treated. When you think of clients, co-workers, and community first, they will in turn draw from and look to you, deepening therapeutic and educational relationships.

Service & Stewardship

Meaning is found in service rather than self-centeredness. As God provides for us, we in turn provide to the community. The agency was founded as a ministry to accomplish God’s will in the lives He brings. As we serve clients, teach interns, employ, or work alongside individuals, we must seek to use our talents to serve.

Love

Love your neighbor as yourself. Just as we look to the example of Jesus who said all are worthy, we recognize that all people are worthy of our love, encouragement, and support. We believe that all clients and employees, no matter what background, culture, religion, nationality, gender, all are worthy to be loved and supported. Likewise, we recognize and emphasize the importance of loving yourself and practicing self-care.

We welcome individuals from all faiths, backgrounds, sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, cultures, and legal status.
